My verge garden started last year was just going to be herbs and flowers to share with the neighbours. But nothing grew except a few of these cornflowers. While I have waited for them to flower I learned more about soil health and how local native plants and insects have evolved together with our soil life over millions of years. I was amazed about how this all fits together and how I was completely oblivious to it. I am enjoying getting to know the local native plants.

Our postie is on a electric quad vehicle and we’ve had a chat and measured to make sure it’s easy for him to ride through. The area closest to the kerb is tricky with the slope so I will leave that for now and plant out the 40cm wide stripe along the fence with tubestock from Kombartcho. The bush turkeys have been pretty good so far but they are my biggest challenge.
