Mt Isa Verge Garden Policy

Mt Isa allows residents to plant trees and other plants on the verge provide at least 1.5m of the footpath is kept clear for pedestrians.

Trees should comply with Ergon Energy's Plant Smart program (link) but no other guidelines or restrictions for planting are provided.

Applications need to be lodged with Council before works starts.

“The Mount Isa City Council will provide, free of charge, three (3) small shrubs (native species under 6m in height) of the same variety, from the Council's Nursery, to householders for planting on footpaths.”

“Residents with corner blocks are entitled to five (5) plants to be planted along both footpaths.”
