Inner West Council Sydney Nature Strips or Verges and Adopt-a-Spot

See the Verge Garden (for the verge outside your home) and Adopt-a-spot Policy and Guidelines.

Complete the online Verge Garden Application Form. You need to receive written approval from Council before you start your verge garden

If you are renting, you need to attach an approval letter from the property owner. If you live in a multi-unit dwelling, you need an approval letter from Strata.

Drought hardy local native plants are recommended.
Growing plants for food is not permitted.

Before commencing an Adopt-a-Spot, residents must register their proposed Adopt-a-Spot idea and meet with Council’s Urban Ecology Team to discuss the proposal.
